Description

SH2-174 one of the very much northern Ha/OIII nebula in a RGB(stars) plus HaOIII (nebula) imaging mode.  A pretty unusual shape for an emission nebula because the Hydrogen and the Oxygen do not have the same emission center and the "central" emitting star is not in the center of the nebula at all. The originating star is a small blue-white star almost at the edge of the OIII nebula, which was shifted sideways. It´s distance to Earth is about 1000LJ, it is rather large but very weak and therefore usually not one of the prime targets for astrophotography.
